The 2009 British Open should be one for the books. Besides returning to Turnberry, the site of one of the most famous tournaments in golf history (Watson against Nicklaus in the 1977 “Duel in the Sun”), the championship gets a boost from Tiger Woods, returning after missing last year’s Open Championship. But in order to win the 2009 British Open, he’ll have to beat the two-time defending champ, Padraig Harrington. Phil Mickelson will not be competing in the 2009 British Open, deciding instead to stay home with his wife Amy, who is battling breast cancer. The last few years have been nothing short of outstanding, even including Harrington’s four shot win last year.
